## About the Role
Mercor is partnering with a leading AI lab to train frontier models on high-quality legal reasoning data. We're hiring Compliance and Regulatory Attorneys to design realistic regulatory scenarios, evaluate model outputs against established legal and compliance standards, and help shape how the next generation of AI reasons about regulatory frameworks, internal investigations, and high-stakes compliance work.
We welcome regulatory counsel, in-house compliance attorneys (with JD), former regulators, healthcare and financial regulatory specialists, and senior associates in compliance practice. Specialists in AML/BSA, FCPA, FDA, healthcare regulatory, sanctions, or privacy are all encouraged.
## What You'll Do
- Design realistic regulatory scenarios drawn from your practice (AML/SAR preparation, OFAC screening, FCPA assessments, FDA submissions, HIPAA reviews, environmental permitting, administrative hearings, privacy/PIA)
- Write "golden" reference responses at attorney-level quality
- Grade AI-generated responses against structured rubrics
- Provide written feedback the research team uses to improve model behavior
- Participate in onboarding office hours and specialty calibration sessions
## You're a Good Fit If You
- Have 1–4 years of professional experience in regulatory or compliance law at a law firm, in-house legal department, government agency, or regulator
- Hold a J.D. (U.S./Canada) or LL.B./LL.M. (U.K.) from an accredited law school
- Are licensed to practice law in the U.S., Canada, or U.K. (active or inactive)
- Have strong experience with one or more of: AML/BSA, OFAC sanctions screening, FCPA/anti-corruption, healthcare regulatory (HIPAA, Stark Law, Anti-Kickback Statute, Medicare/Medicaid), FDA submissions, privacy (GDPR/CCPA/PIA/DPIA), environmental permitting, export control, or administrative hearings
- Demonstrate excellent written communication skills with high attention to detail
## Bonus Qualifications
- CIPP, CFE, CAMS, or similar certification
- Internal compliance investigation experience
- Experience drafting compliance training programs
- Familiarity with regulatory portals (FDA, federalregister.gov, NLRB.gov, EEOC)
## Role Highlights
- Minimum 20 hours per week (ideally 40+)
- Fully remote — must be based in the United States, Canada, or United Kingdom
- Role starts immediately, applications reviewed on a rolling basis
## Compensation
- $85–$120/hr
